MacLeods in the South East, Nalang, 2004

By Trevor Powell

The grey stone at the base of John MacLeod's gravestone was brought home by Bill Hunt from Raasay beach in 2010.

Stone Mason - J Kellett

The base of the construction is limestone/paddock stone similar to materials the house was built of, and granite pieces that came from the chimney wall of the Shearers Quarters built ca 1870s.

Looking east, we see Alice's plaque that was placed there in 2007.

The small Laginaria tree in the background is of the same variety as found at the West Terrace Cemetery close to Louden MacLeod and his mother Flora's gravestone.

The gravestone location was originally in the paddock behind the current location, approximately halfway between the present site and the tree you can see in the distance.
